Celebrated annually, Spinal Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Leak Awareness Week aims to increase awareness of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) or intracranial hypotension (IH) caused by spinal CSF leak and to promote improved access to diagnosis, treatment, and care for all those affected by this condition.

Please join us in making a positive impact on the lives of patients affected by this highly disabling neurological condition. Whether through donations or by helping to share and raise awareness, you can make a difference.

We are delighted to team up with our sister foundations to give this event an international reach.

One of the most powerful ways to raise awareness is by illuminating landmarks in purple to shine a light on spinal CSF leak.

How You Can Help:

✅ Check if your city has a landmark that participates in awareness lightings (e.g., city halls, bridges, towers, or monuments).

✅ Submit a request for purple lighting in support of Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week.

✅ Ask for Wednesday, June 3, but if that date isn’t available, any other day during Awareness Week works too.

✅ Let us know once your request has been approved so we can track locations and celebrate the success together.

Not sure where to start? We can help! Email us at info@spinalcsfleakcanada.ca with the subject line Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week.

How to request a proclamation:

✅ Contact your city hall or municipal clerk’s office and ask about their process for requesting a proclamation.

✅ Submit a request asking the Mayor or City Council to proclaim June 1–7, 2026, as Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week in your city.

✅ You may use the draft proclamation outline HERE when submitting your request.

✅ Once your proclamation has been approved, please email us so we can add it to our website.
